| Tropez's Environmental Commitment |
Consistent with our quest for health and beauty for our clients, Tropez Salon and Spa is dedicated to corporate responsibility in the preservation of the environment we all share. As such, we have made a commitment to make responsible choices in the products that we use and those that we sell in order to, wherever possible, optimize the preservation of the environment. In our operation we use only Melaleuca cleaning and laundry solvents, we recycle paper and other waste materials to the greatest extent possible and we minimize the use of chemicals in all our processes. We have also selected as our retail product supplier Aveda Corporation, the most environmentally responsible manufacturer in our industry. Aveda's Environmental Commitment GREEN INGREDIENT POLICY At Aveda, we continually seek to increase the use of naturally-derived ingredients in our products. ‘Naturally Derived’ means an ingredient meets a number of criteria, including:
Aveda looks at our products' environmental impact, and takes the following into consideration when formulating:
Aveda tries to ensure our products will not only benefit our customers through exceptional performance, but will positively impact the people and economies from which the product's ingredients are sourced. Aveda firmly believes that we will succeed in this effort by striving to use what we call Green Ingredients in our products whenever possible. “Green Ingredients” are one or more of the following:
Aveda's approach to packaging At Aveda we are mindful of the need to reduce our environmental footprint in every package we develop. We achieve this by minimizing our packaging, maximizing the use of post-consumer recycled materials, using materials that can be and are recyclable, and by designing our packaging so that the individual parts can be separated for recycling. We also work with suppliers who manufacture our packaging materials using renewable energy. Aveda's guiding packaging principles include:
Use of Recycled Materials The majority of our packaging (our bottles and tubes) uses high density polyethylene. The source of the post consumer recycled (PCR) materials is from KW Plastics, and we use their cleanest material, which comes from milk bottles. We also use PET from recycled soda and water bottles for many of our bottles and jars. We (have begun using 25% PCR in our disc top closures) are just starting to use Polypropylene for application in caps. Although it is difficult to come by, we have found sources from industry post consumer scrap rather than from the average consumer product. |
